Google starts shipping Nexus 4 and 10

by on13 November 2012

Breaks Play Store in the process

November 12 is Nexus day and consumers with proper access to the Play Store can finally get the new Nexus 4 and Nexus 10.

The new devices are shipping in Australia, Great Britain and other select markets. The US and Canada go without saying, but they are still asleep so let’s focus on the rest of the world.

The prices are in line with earlier announcements. In debt ridden Europ, the Nexus 4 starts at $299 and it costs £239 in the UK, which is screwed like the rest of Europe but prefers to live in denial. Australian consumer will pay A$349 for the unadulterated Android experience, Canadians need to dish out C$309, while the US price is $299. The entry level Nexus 10 costs $399, C$409, £319, €399 or A$469, depending on the colour of your passport.

It is still too early to talk about sales, but Android Central is reporting that the Nexus 4 has already sold out in the Aussie Play Store. So, either it’s off to a good start or Google underestimated demand in Australia. We should know a bit more when Europe and North America wake up and put on their shut-up-and-take-my-money faces.

Also, Google is selling official bumpers for the Nexus 4 at $19 a pop, if you’re into that sort of kinky stuff. We’re not judging…

Update: Well that didn't take long. It seems the Nexus 4 has sold out in Germany, too. The Nexus 10 is still available, but only in the 16GB version, according to a pcgameshardware.de report.
