Facebook Home flops, gets terrible reviews

by on14 April 2013

So much for Facebook’s "new home on Android"

Oh dear. It seems that Facebook still hasn’t figured out how to make good Android stuff after all. The original Facebook app garnered some horrific reviews, it was redesigned from the ground up. But it’s still not very good. Facebook Messenger was a lot better and lead us to believe that Facebook finally got the hang of it. Until Facebook Home hit the market.

Facebook Home has an average rating of just 2.4. Out of 3,300 users who rated the launcher, 1,520 gave it a resounding thumbs down, with a one star rating. A total of 601 users though it was worth five stars and almost 900 users gave it three or two stars.

Although most users agree that it has potential, they simply don’t like it. The one-star crowd believes the launcher is poorly designed, can be too complicated in some circumstances and simply messes up their phones. It apparently drains the battery quite fast and kills other widgets while it’s at it.

So no, Facebook Home is not a game changer as some hype machines would have us believe. It’s just another mediocre Android launcher, at best. To be honest, we didn’t even bother trying it ourselves, since we thought it was rather pointless even before the Play Store crowd figured out that it is both crappy and pointless.
