iPhone 5S specs leaked

by on09 September 2013

About time

Apple is set to introduce the new iPhone 5S and the cheap 5C tomorrow and so far it has done a rather good job at keeping the actual specs under wraps, although there have been quite a few leaked photos.

Now the 5S spec is out, thanks to a promo leak for the Chinese market. There’s nothing too spectacular to report – A7 processor under the bonnet, iOS 7, dual LED flash 8-megapixel camera with an F2.0 wide lens capable of 120fps in 1080p. The long rumoured fingerprint scanner is also on board, which should come in handy for mobile commerce and mobile payment services.

The design hasn’t been changed much, just enough to accommodate a redesigned camera/LED combo on the back, no surprises there. The resolution is the same, 1136x640, but battery life appears to have been improved thanks to the new processor. Apple claims 250 hours on standby, which is pretty good considering the diminutive size.

The biggest unknown in the equation remains the iPhone 5C. We expect quite similar specs, the exact same screen, but possibly an older processor and camera. Still, many consumers may opt for the fresh 5C over the overhauled 5S, as the 5C sounds good enough for most people, provided the price is right.
