Huawei committed to Windows Phone

by on13 September 2013

Not like there’s much competition

Although Microsoft decided to take a huge gamble and buy Nokia’s phone business for $7.2 billion, the move doesn’t appear to have had much of an impact on other smartphone vendors.

In addition to Nokia, Samsung and HTC are also building Windows phones, although there were plenty of rumours claiming that both of them would ditch WP. This didn’t happen, although it might sometime in the future. The next big WP hardware partner is Huawei and according to the Wall Street Journal, it is still committed to Redmond’s mobile OS.

This is pretty good news for the platform, as Huawei has a massive presence in China. Nokia can take care of western markets, Huawei can cover China, while Samsung and HTC can fill the gaps, provided they keep building Windows phones.
