Time for LG smartwatch leak

Everyone is doing one other than Apple

Troubled mobile phone maker LG thinks that there is mileage getting in the long queue of rivals making wearable computers.

We managed to stumble upon a leak with a full specification of the hardware to come and it shows that LG has not learnt from some of the mistakes of its rivals.

Compared to 96 to 120 hours on the Toq, the battery life on the LG looks rubbish but the feature set on Google Wear and the ability to interact with Google Now could be worthwhile. The battery of 400 mAh should charge in two hours and its significantly bigger than 300 mAh that you find in Galaxy Gear 2 watch.

The LG G Watch has 1.65 inch screen with 280x280 resolution, which is only HD if you have eyesight problems, although who wants HD on a watch. The pixel density is at acceptable 240 and the watch itself has 512 MB RAM. The driving force behind the watch looks like a Snapdragon 400, a chip that we usually see in a mainstream phones and it should be enough to run applications on this watch really fast. It measures 37.9 x 46.5 x 9.95 mm and weights 61 grams, 7 grams less than Gear 2. It should charge via micro USB port and will pack bunch of sensors including ambient, touch, pedometer, and tilt.

It supports English, Spanish, French, Korean and Chinese and it uses Bluetooth 4.0 LE to connect to a watch. Emails, SMS Voice memo will be taken care by Android Wear. The watch should be announced on the Google IO that starts on June 25th and this is the same time we expect to see the Motorola 360.

Samsung has tried for two times with its smart watch and things are getting better but are still not perfect. Another two players Qualcomm with Toq and Pebble are getting better with its e-ink technology driven watches but they are lacking some applications and grunt.

LG together with Motorola might be the first to launch the Google Wear based watch named the G Watch. The leaked spec shows a rectangular shaped watch with a LCD display and it promises 36 hours stand by time as well as 4 GB memory.
