HTC CEO Peter Chou stepping down

by on20 March 2015

Will stick around in future dev lab

Peter Chou is no longer the CEO of Taiwanese smartphone maker HTC.

Chou’s replacement is Cher Wang, the current chairwoman of HTC. Wang is also one of the co-founders of HTC.

Although Chou stepped down from his post, he will stay at HTC, heading the company’s Future Development Lab. HTC said Chou will be “instrumental in identifying future growth opportunities for the company."

Wang has been with HTC since the very start in 1997. She took over more responsibilities from Chou two years ago, but now it seems she will be in (almost) complete control.

"As an entrepreneur at heart, I am excited to see so many new opportunities, and I am honoured to accept this opportunity to help shape the next stage of HTC's development," said Wang.

Wang added that HTC pioneered the smartphone industry and is now applying the same thinking to realise the potential of a new generation of connected products and services.
