Turing releases Liquid Metal phone

by on06 July 2015

Terminator phone

Turing has announced pre-orders for its first Liquid Metal Turing android phone.

For those who came in late, Liquid Metal is an alloy metal similar to glass which is super strong and light. Liquid Metal also has high corrosion resistance, high tensile strength, and is difficult to wear down. It can also be heat-formed.

Turing's version of Liquid metal, dubbed Liquidmorphium, provides better shock absorption characteristics and does not make a dent or crack when dropped.

The Liquid morphium frame is protected by nano-coating technology and features an IPx8 waterproof rating, allowing it to survive water depths of up to 30 feet.

Other than its toughness it is pretty much a standard Android 5.1 Lollipop phone. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch 1080p display. The display is covered with Gorilla Glass 4, 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, 8MP front-facing camera, fingerprint sensor, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and a 3000 mAh battery.

Needless to say it is not cheap. Pricing starts at $610 for a 16GB model and goes to $870 for a 128GB model. It does come with a Bluetooth headset, Bluetooth speaker, Bluetooth keyboard, and a gaming controller if you pre-order.

Turing has not told us a shipping date yet.
