MediaTek Helio X10 inside

Sony has quietly released the Xperia M5 on its official global website. What makes this phone special is that this is one of the highest end phones powered by a MediaTek Helio X10 processor.

The Xperia M5 is already selling in India but we found some listings on Geizhals website which indicates that this phone will find its way to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and probably other parts of Europe. It comes in gold, black or white.

Sony Xperia M5 is a full HD 1920x1080 5 inch device that measures 145 x 72 x 7.6 mm. It weights 142.5 gramps and has a 2600 mAh battery. The device ships with Google Android 5.0 and has MediaTek Helios X10 octa core processor clocked at 2.0GHz.

Some might know the Helios X10 under the less sexy title – the MTK 6795. We tested this processor and it runs really fast in both benchmarks and real life applications.

The phone comes with 3GB Ram, 16GB Flash memory and up to 200 GB with micro SD slot. It has all you could possible want including an NFC and 4G / LTE Cat 4 modem.

This is a waterproof and dust tight phone with IP65 and IP68 certification but you probably don’t want to soak it in the swimming pool.

As you would expect from Sony the phone comes with great rear and front end camera. The rear camera has amazing 21.5 megapixels Exmor RS with Hybrid AF F2.2. The camera has ISO up to 3200 which sounds like a lot for a phone. The camera can record 4K video too.

The front face, selfie camera 13 MP Exmor RS with auto focus is also the best we've seen from Sony. Sony's slogan for this is "Take photos like a pro with a waterproof dual SIM Android smartphone."

It will come in both dual SIM and a single Sim version. It is not that complicated as Xperia M5 Dual has two SIM card supports while Sony Xperia M5 doesn’t.  We don’t have an European Suggester retail price at the moment.
