iPhone 7s in Dutch Apple store are all Intel machines

7 Plus too

Fudzilla went to the GPU Technology conference in Amsterdam and our travels took us to the Apple shop in The Hague. Of course we wanted to take a look at the latest non 3.5 inch iPhone 7 phones, and imagine our surprise to learn that all of them were based on Intel stuff.

Even the Apple iPhone7 Plus versions in the shop were all Intel-based. Intel is the model number 1778 while the Qualcomm modem is hidden under the belly of the model number A1660. The iPhone 7 Plus in the store also included the Intel only Model Number 1774. We checked all of them on display and all iPhone 7s were Model number 1778 while the iPhone 7 Pluses were model number 1774. We covered this topic in detail before

We can only hope that not all European phones will end up using Intel modems. This is why we would like to ask you, our readers, to let us know what are the model numbers in your town, regardless of the country or continent you are based. You can post your findings in the comment section of simply email us.

You might think that people exaggerate about the modems, but since Intel has an inferior modem, there will be a lot of features including QAM 64 and QAM 256 that might end up being turned off on Qualcomm based iPhone 7s. The reason is simple - the Intel modem doesn’t support advanced upload and download features.

Samsung already did this to its European customers. The Galaxy S7 in Europe uses Samsung's Exynos chipset and Exynos modem, a clearly weaker modem. Trust us -  we had both versions of the S7 Edge with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 and Samsung's Exynos chips and the Snapdragon model showed a lot of advantages in certain areas, especially upload.

We suspect this is going to be the case with two different iPhone 7 devices  - one with Intel and one with Qualcomm, as Intel simply doesn’t have enough experience in building LTE modems.
