Working on a fix

It appears as if Nvidia has already run into some problems with its brand spanking new shiny DDR3 chipset, the Nforce 790i. Although this isn't likely to be an issue for everyone, it could be quite widespread. The problem in question is related to overclocking the the front side bus in combination with some DDR3 modules.

The combination of "certain" high speed memory modules and overclocking the FSB causes data corruption, something you really don't want to happen. According to Nvidia's support forum, engineers are already working on a fix to solve this problem.

We'd expect a BIOS update to be released that will resolve this issue, although it could take some time before it makes its way to all of Nvidia's board partners who then in turn need to implement it into their BIOS code.

This is hopefully just a small glitch for Nvidia, but it's nonetheless embarrassing for a chipset that costs US$115 and with motherboards that are selling in the $300+ region.
