Dr MOS and GreenPower

Not wanting to be outdone by Asus and Gigabyte, MSI has let slip some slides which reveals all of MSI's new features and its full range of P45-based motherboards.

It looks like MSI has taken more than one cue from Asus and Gigabyte's books. MSI's name for their new features is DrMOS and there's a range of features that look like they've been lifted straight off products made by MSI's competitors. MSI put many new technologies on their P45 series to improve the working of the PWM called GreenPower. Actually, they have a complete new and exclusive PWM design based on the 2nd generation DrMOS. This 3-in-1 package chip combines the PWM driver IC, the low MOSFET and the Hi-MOSFET into one IC, which should improve temperature, overclocking and stability. We hope to have more detailed info later today.

We don't want to bash MSI, but with features such as active phase switching with a range of LEDs that indicate how many phases are enabled, it looks almost too much like Gigabyte's DES. However, MSI has enabled phase switching for the memory and chipset, as well as the PWM.

The GreenPower Genie function allows you to monitor the PSU in the BIOS via the system management bus, which is an interesting feature for those that wants to know how much power is provided from the 12, 5 and 3.3V rails from the power supply.

The lineup of motherboards so far consists of the P45 Diamond, P45D3 Platinum, P45 Platinum, P45 Neo3 and P45 Neo.

You can find pictures and some more details about all the new features here
