Another Wind-branded product

MSI was also showing off its upcoming Atom-powered mini-ITX motherboard yesterday and it looks like the retail name for this board will be the Wind Board, although the MSI model name is MS-7314.

However, this is not the motherboard that will go into the Wind desktop PC, as the layout of the ports is quite different. The Wind Board will have a standard Atom 230 processor, the 945GC chipset, two memory slots and a single PCI slot for expansion.

It features PS/2 ports, a serial and a parallel port, a D-sub connector, four 2.0 USB ports with headers for an additional four USB 2.0 ports, 10/100Mbit Ethernet and 5.1-channel sound. There are also two SATA ports and a single IDE connector.

The CPU and Northbridge are cooled by a single large heatsink, whereas the Southbridge got its own little heatsink. More details, such as availability and pricing, should be revealed during Computex next week, as the official launch for the Atom 230 will happen during the show.
