For better graphics performance

Gigabyte told us about their intentions of releasing a new version of its 780G motherboard with SidePort memory and it didn't take very long for the product to appear. In all fairness, apart from the 128MB of DDR3 memory, the specifications don't really differ from the previous mATX 780G model.

The memory works at 1,066MHz, but it can be pushed all the way to 1,333MHz with the help of some overclocking. Gigabyte claims that the addition of the SidePort memory should boost the 3D performance by up to 10% and it might be even more if you overclock the memory.

Gigabyte has also re-worked the PWM and has added a five-phase solution which should support AMD's entire range of processors. Apart from this you still get the same great rear connectivity as the previous 780G, which includes a pair of PS/2 ports, DVI, D-sub, HDMI, four USB 2.0 ports, eSATA, FireWire, Gigabit Ethernet and 7.1-channel audio with optical S/PDIF out.

You can find out more details here.
