Intel’s reference X58 motherboard is scheduled for Q4 2008. It is codenamed Smackover, and as we said many times before, this chipset will be the only one to support Nehalem generation of CPUs.

The chipset can cope with three-channel DDR3 and it comes paired with ICH10R. The CPU that works with this board is codenamed Bloomfield, and it’s the first 45nm Nehalem class CPU that fits in socket LGA 1366.

The board is an ATX design and it will support multiple graphics cards, but most likely Crossfire only.
