Exclusive: Final production boards revealed

It turns out that the pictures of the DFI LanParty JR boards we posted yesterday aren't even close to the final boards and we now have exclusive pictures of what should be the final production boards. The P45-T2RS only has some minor changes, but the R790GX-M2RS has been given a complete overhaul with the typical LanParty look and feel.

First of all, the P45-T2RS now has power and reset buttons on the motherboard, but it still lacks the Post 80 debug LEDs. Other changes include a revamped chipset cooling solution which now features an easily detachable heatsink with a special plate that protects the chipset from being damaged, but at the same time allows for easier installation of custom chipset cooling solutions. The heatsink on the PWM area is also larger than in the previous pictures.

The rest of the board layout remains pretty much the same with a few minor tweaks here and there as you'd expect when changes have been made elsewhere on the board.

We've also got the first picture of the final version of the AMD 790GX based R790GX-M2RS and the only thing that really remains the same is the slot layout. The rear I/O has been changed slightly with the addition of an HDMI port and the optical and coaxial S/PDIF ports are now on top of each other. To select between DVI and HDMI you have to manually change a rather large jumper block, although the final production version will get an easier to grip jumper, similar to what Biostar is using on some of its boards.

The SATA ports have been moved to the front of the board and are now angled at 90 degrees. Some components have been moved around a little bit to make space for the SATA ports and DFI has applied a similar cooling solution to this board as on the P45-T2RS, but tailor made for the smaller 790GX chipset. DFI has also added 128MB of GDDR3 SidePort memory to the board, in line with many other motherboard manufacturers.

Both boards are expected to launch tomorrow, although we haven't had any retail pricing for either product as yet, but we should hopefully get this tomorrow. Fingers crossed that DFI has decided to price these boards sensibly.

Update: We've had the pricing for the P45 model and it's expected to retail for US$159 which is €103, although you'd have to add VAT on top of that plus a bit more to get the European pricing, so we'd guess it'll be close to the US price but in Euro once it hits retail. Not exactly the kind of price point we were hoping for, but at the moment it's a one of a kind product and it seems like DFI wants to try to make some extra money out if it before the competition catches on.

Here's some larger pictures of the two boards.
