According to leaked driver roadmap

We spotted a leaked driver roadmap over at VR-Zone covering AMDs upcoming chipset drivers and it has fairly accurate dates on it and what took us somewhat by surprise was the inclusion of the RS880 chipset which according to the said roadmap should launch in March or April next year.

The details are still pretty thin on the ground and the new roadmap only hints at improved multimedia capabilities, which doesn't say much. From what we already know about this chipset it should also have DDR3 support and be teamed up with the new SB800 southbridge.

A couple of other interesting points on the roadmap is the fact that AMD is working on Blu-ray support under Linux for its IGP chipsets, although this will only be available to OEMs, which is a shame as we're sure there are a lot of people out there that would like to see this feature being available for HTPC systems. AMD also seems to have increased the release schedule for its chipset drivers and as with its graphics drivers, we can now expect a new release on a monthly basis.

You can find the roadmap here
