Some interesting new details

Zotac has finally gone and gotten all official with its ION boards which have leaked, then been previewed before Zotac managed to get a press release out. There will be at least four different version of the motherboard, although currently only two have been added to Zotac's website.

The four SKU's of the IONITX motherboard will simply be known as A, B, C and D, with A and D having dual core Atom 330 CPUs and B and C having single core Atom 230 CPUs. The A and C models will come with the onboard DC/DC converter, power brick and pre-fitted WiFi card, while the B and D models will use a standard ATX power connector and doesn't come with a WiFi card, but should as such be a fair bit cheaper.

The A and C models also come bundled with a special Molex to SATA power adapter that connects to a Molex header on the motherboard and will be able to power up to three SATA devices. The dual core boards are supplied with a low profile 60mm cooling fan and all models should ship with three SATA data cables in the box.

Some early reviews have already cropped up on the web and they're all pretty positive, if somewhat concerned about the fairly high price point of the boards with onboard DC/DC converter, although at US$179 (€131/£117), the price for the A model is a fair bit lower in the US than the pricing bit-tech was given for the UK market a week or so ago.
