Biostar releases B250 mining motherboard

by on27 June 2017

With 12 PCIe slots

With cryptocurrency mining creating havoc on the GPU market, Biostar is looking to cash in on the craze by releasing a motherboard based on Intel's B250 chipset and with no less than 12 PCI-Express slots, the TB250-BTC Pro.

Meant strictly for cryptocurrency mining, since we can't think of any other situation where you would need a B250 Express chipset motherboard with 12 PCIe slots, the Biostar TB250-BTC Pro has a couple of other tricks up its sleeve, including a matrix arrangement of the PCI-E slots which gives enough space daughter cards and should result in more stable signals to and from the board and the devices, aka graphics cards which are happily "digging" for cryptocurrency.

As noted, the Biostar TB250-BTC Pro is your standard ATX form-factor motherboard based on Intel's budget B250 Express chipset with support for Intel LGA1151 CPUs, including Celeron, Pentium, Core i3, Core i5 and even Core i7 CPUs. It supports up to 32GB of dual-channel DDR4-2400 RAM, has single PCIe x16 and 11 PCI-e x1 30 slots, six SATA 6Gbps ports, a couple of USB ports, DVI-D display output, single Gigabit Ethernet port, PS/2 ports and more.

It also needs two PCIe 12V 4-pin connectors that must be connected when used for cryptocurrency mining, at least according to Biostar.

The new Biostar TB250-BTC Pro motherboard should start to appear on retail/e-tail shelves soon with a suggested retail price of US $129.99.
