AMD cuts Phenom pricing

Written by Fudzilla staff

On select quad- and six-core parts
AMD has chosen to drop prices on its Phenom II X4 and Phenom II X6 series processors for no apparent reason.

Quad-core parts, including the 955 BE, 965 BE and 970 BE dropped by $10, or between 6.9 and 5.4 percent depending on the SKU.

However, six-core Thubans got an even bigger price cut. The 1055T dropped from $199 to $175, while the 1090T dropped from $235 to $205. The latest and fastest Thuban, the 1100T, went from $265 to $239.

nice,
it wouldn't hurt to see some 'leaked' benchmarks of upcoming Bulldozer performance

Bulldozer is coming sooner than expected and they want to clear out stock.

This article is about Phenom 2 not Athlon 2 CPUs.
Phenom 2 prices are close to Sandy , but i hope that Bulldozer is reason, we will see.

Could it be that AMD thinks that by dropping Phenom II prices, they will get more sales from people who want to buid a system *now*, can't go with Socket 1155 and won't go with Socket 1156.

But an earlier Bulldozer release would be fine with me. :-)

Newegg lists the 1090T for even less at $199.99. I think this is another round of 100MHz speed increases for the Phenom II line. We probably will soon see a six core 1110T at 3.4GHz/3.8GHz, a 4 core 975BE at 3.6GHz and a dual cover 570BE at 3.5GHz.

It's to make room for 95w replacements for PhII X4 and Thubans.
