AMD FX and Llano performance leaked

Written by

Impressive projections
AMD has leaked some in-house performance projections for its upcoming FX-series processors and Llano A4, A6 and A8 APUs. (No relation to Audi)

The slides were posted by DonanimHaber and they reveal that the Llano should be able to match Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors in terms of overall performance. However, as expected it is somewhat weaker on the CPU side of things, but it manages to make up the difference in graphics performance.

Here is an example. In combined PCMark and 3DMark Vantage tests the most powerful A8 series Llano outpaces the Core i5 2300 and comes close to the Core i7 2600k. However, in terms of CPU power alone, it is still behind the Core i3 2100. In the graphics department, no Intel part is a match for any Llano core.

The 8-core FX series CPU matches the Core i7 2600k in CPU performance and it is about 25 percent faster than the current Phenom II X6 1100T. This is still not enough to threaten Intel’s lead in the high-end, but we are talking about an entirely new architecture, with a lot of room for further evolution and improvement.

Check out the slides here.

If it matches the 2600K and is priced lower it will still be a good CPU, I was expecting more from Bulldozer to be honest though, was thinking I may go back to AMD in next build if performance was there, its looking like I might as well stick with my P67/2600K for a while...

Wouldnt trust such leaked "tests",they to often giving you wrong impression.
But if amd "new" so called Intel buldozzing Buldozzer 8core cant beat Intels 4core,that says alot..
SB+Z75 (or Z68) way to go.Not to mention Ivy Bridge.
I wouldnt trust any inside leaked "tests",especially from amd,who often making things more rosey than they are.
Jus remember 6970 fiasco and what amd promised LOL
Now lets troll amd fanboys MHUAHAHAHHA

You were expecting AMD to be 25% faster than sandybridge?

Depends on how many threads were used. If it was 1 thread and AMD can match sandybridge thats really good.

Oh i get it, AMD is playing the same game like that played with Nvidia, when they came up with 48** series.
Keep similar performance like competitor, but beat them on pricing. After 2 generations you already know what has happend with Nvidia.

Yeah I think its to early for any reliable info, noticed that Faud's article claims "Bulldozer with eight cores should at least win in some cases" agaisnt Intels top high end extreme core LGA2011 socket. This article states that Bulldozer is on par with 2600k? Not sure what to believe lol. AMD need to hurry up and release Bulldozer already, at least release some benchmarks, Intel is killing the mid range market with 2500k/2600k..

Where did you get that idea from? I expected Bulldozer to at least be faster than Intels 2600K! 2600K can be had for as little as £210. A P67 motherboard can be had for around £80. How are AMD gonna price match there new flagship CPU's against this? AMD needs Bulldozer to perform to be competitive..

I like Intel but it would be nice if AMD catches up to them so prices can be very competetive.

+1, was hoping Bulldozer was going to be a monster architecture and force a product and price war between Intel and AMD. If AMD's new flagship 8 core FX CPU is only on par with Intel's Mid range 4 core 2600K then it is a big dissapointement , unless they sell the chips at $149. Would like AMD to go all out for performance for once, rather than 'budget' not as good but cheap CPU's..

If this relatively disappointing performance of Bulldozer is true, it might explain why AMD's CEO was fired.
