Highend Vega GPU coming in 2017

A set of new slides leaked online has confirmed most of the specifications for the upcoming Radeon RX 470 and RX 460 graphics cards while the newest roadmap shows that high-end Vega GPU won't be coming before next year.

Adds support Doom Vulkan API and fix a single issue

AMD has released its new Radeon Software 16.7.2 drivers which add support for Vulkan API in Bethesda's Doom game as well as fixing problems with Restore Factory Defaults in Radeon Settings.

SP4 BGA in mid-2017

Naples is, as Fudzilla exclusively reported, a 32 Zen core Opteron with 64 threads. The 16 core Zen version with a BGA socket is codenamed Snowy Owl. AMD thinks that Snowy Owl will be a great match for the communication and network markets that needs a high performance 64-bit X86 CPU.

AMD has issued its new Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.7.2 drivers which promised a fix for RX 480 power issues and it appears that these work as advertised, even without a significant performance hit.

Fixes PCIe current draw and improves performance

AMD promised us a driver within 48 hours and after two sleepless nights the developers have delivered one. The driver  fix needed doing urgently and  will draw less current from the motherboard.

AMD has an update for everyone who has a Radeon RX 480 and is afraid that the card might fry the PCIe slot on the motherboard. The new driver, that solves the problem and increases performance by up to 3 percent should be out today, July 7th. 

Day one support for Radeon RX 480

It looks like AMD has finally got the memo when it comes to Linux machines. Its new AMDGPU-PRO 16.30 driver offers day-one support for its new Radeon RX 480 from day one.
