Updated: Microsoft and Qualcomm chastened by four decades of product cycles

For nearly forty years, Intel has enjoyed a PC market dominated by its x86 intellectual property and has enjoyed near unanimous enforcement as it chooses. When competitors like Microsoft and Snapdragon begin to show plans of bringing x86 support to ARM-based silicon, however, Chipzilla shows no signs of letting down its posturing as it evaluates the broader notebook and entry-level desktop markets.
