At the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, Micron has announced its latest UFS 4.0 package aimed at enabling next-generation of phone designs. Coming in up to 1TB of capacity and providing exceptional performance and power efficiency, the new UFS 4.0 package will not only allow smartphone makers to have more space due to the smaller package but also come up with faster and more responsive devices.

Qualcomm AI Hub, new Snapdragon X80 5G Modem-RF System, and FastConnect 7900

As expected, Qualcomm took the Mobile World Congress 2024 by storm, and in addition to plenty of smartphones that were announced with Qualcomm's flagship chipset, the company itself talked about the future and advancements in AI, 5G, and Wi-Fi with its Qualcomm AI Hub, the new Snapdragon X80 5G Modem-RF System, and the new FastConnect 7900 mobile connectivity system with Wi-Fi 7.

Part of the Dual OC and TUF Gaming lineup

Asus has introduced its own custom versions of the Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics card. The Radeon RX 7900 GRE was limited to China, but AMD has officially announced it for a global release in order to counter Nvidia's $550 RTX 4070 non-Super graphics card. Asus custom RX 7900 GRE graphics cards will come as a part of the Dual OC and TUF Gaming lineups.

AMD has also adjusted the price or the Radeon RX 7700 XT down to $419.

Clearwater Forest taped-out, five nodes goal still on track

During its Intel Foundry Services (IFS) Direct Connect 2024 event, Intel revealed a new roadmap that includes the new 14A node, the first on High-NA EUV. Intel was also keen to note that Clearwater Forest CPUs are taped out on an 18A node and that its ambitious "five nodes in four years" (5N4Y) plan is still on track.

New Geforce 551.61 WHQL driver with RTX HDR in tow

Nvidia has finally released the new NVIDIA App, a more modern control panel, which, unlike the Geforce Experience app, does not need you to create an Nvidia account. In addition, Nvidia has released the new Geforce 551.61 WHQL driver, which brings RTX HDR and support for the new NVIDIA App control panel.

During the IFS Direct Connect 2024 event, Intel's CEO, Pat Gelsinger, answered a couple of questions from the members of the press, including a rather peculiar one from Tom's Hardware hack, Paul Alcorn, where Intel CEO expressed hope that customers for Intel Foundry Services will include Nvidia, Qualcomm, Google, and even AMD.
