Asus about to release an Android 3.1 tablet

Hardware maker Asus is about to release a new tablet which works on Android 3.1.

The outfit currently runs a 10 inch tablet running Android 3.0 called the Eee Pad Transformer, and a 12 inch tablet running Windows 7 Home Premium called the Eee Slate EP121. Both will get an upgrade with the Android tablet getting 3.1, while the Windows range including the Eee Slate EB121 which will run Windows 7 Professional.

The French site Blogee has seen the Transformer running Android 3.1, although this looks like this is just a test build for now. What it does show is that Asus has received the 3.1 code and is working to bring out products that use it.
Android 3.1 brings better support for hardware graphics acceleration, new scrollable home screen widgets, and an improved Recent Apps tasks switcher, among other things.

The Eee Slate EP121 has a 12.1 inch, 1280 x 800 pixel display, an Intel Core i5 processor, and a solid state disk.
