Pakistan's YouTube ban shut down the site worldwide

A local
ISP following orders from Pakistan to ban YouTube routed many worldwide users to nowhere for a couple of hours. YouTube users found themselves routed according to erroneous Internet Protocols, and many users around the world could not access the site.

Pakistan ordered all Internet service providers to block the YouTube Website for containing "blasphemous content, videos and documents" considered offensive to Islam. YouTube is investigating how the ISP managed to shut down its entire operations in order to ensure this problem does not happen again.
