80 to lose jobs at Codemasters

by on21 January 2013

Major titles will not be affected

Codemasters will be seeing some layoffs, with 80 employees being let go in a restructuring that apparently is not company-wide. Sources tell us that the decision will not affect the company’s core titles like Dirt, Grid 2, and Formula One, all of which will continue development for both the consoles and PCs.

From what we are hearing from those in the shadows, most of those being hit with these layoffs will be coming from the company’s Southam facility in which the company has over 500 employees currently. This is also the facility where the main Racing Studio is for the company, but from the whispers we are hearing it is expected that the Online department at Southam will be the hardest hit with the layoffs.

According to statements released by the company, the job loss is the result of a postponed restructure, but now the company has realigned its focus on the areas which it believes are strategically important; and as result, due to future project strategy these employees have become redundant.  We are not sure those employees will agree with that strategy.
