Still possible to port UE4 game to Wii U

Mark Rein, Co-Founder of Epic, confirmed that despite the scalability of the Unreal Engine 4, the hardware in the Wii U is close to as powerful, if not a little more powerful, than what is in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. In an interview with Videogamer, he confirmed that Epic does not intend to bring the Unreal Engine 4 to the Wii U.

Despite the fact that the Unreal Engine 4 isn’t on the Wii U, it would not stop developers from porting UE4-developed titles to the Wii U using the Unreal Engine 3. (The Unreal Engine 3 is already running on the Wii U.) Rein goes on to say that the Unreal Engine 3 isn’t going anywhere, and there are still all kinds of amazing titles being developed using it.

With the news that DICE has no current plans to port the Frostbite Engine to the Wii U, it looks like the Wii U is going to encounter at least some issues getting the latest and greatest titles for the platform. While we know that right now the Wii U needs titles to keep up with the other consoles, it just does not seem like those titles are coming. We will have to wait till E3 to get a good count, but things are not looking so good for the Wii U these days.
