Google developing its own gaming console

by on28 June 2013

Will be Android-based and compete with Ouya

According to both the Wall Street Journal and Joystick, Google itself is apparently investing in and developing its own Android gaming console.

While details are not clear, the console is apparently being developed as well as a new Android-based wrist watch.

It isn’t clear what the new gaming console might do, but it is clear that the Ouya has made a significant impact; and with other devices expected in this segment from both Apple and Microsoft, it is clear that Google needs to be aggressive.

With the purchase of Motorola, Google has a large talent pool of engineering talent that it could use to design such a device; and it is clear based on Ouya’s Kickstarter success that the timing might never be better to try to get into this market space.
