Amazon Fire TV is US only for now

by on03 April 2014

Might eventually go global

Amazon Fire TV has stirred up a lot of attention. The Gary Busey commercial as well as its ability to play both movies and games really helped but, unfortunately, it will be only available in the US, at least for the time being.

As you already know and as we wrote earlier, the Amazon Fire TV and its nice remote are already up for grabs in the US for US $99, while the Fire game controller goes for US $39. It appears that Amazon has decided to follow the well tried launch plan we have seen earlier with the Kindle Fire.

During the launch event in New York, Amazon representative told Pocket-lint that "Like our other stuff, Fire TV will release globally". The best bet is that Amazon Fire TV will first land in the UK while the rest of the Europe will most likely wait a bit longer.

Of course, we would have liked the global launch but this is just the way Amazon does things.
