Sony has cut the price of its Blu-ray disc player by $100. The company had announced in February that its BDP-S300 player would sell for $599.
However the price it is now going out at is $499.

It means that the new player costs half of what the company's first Blu-ray player cost when it launched just six months ago.  This is becoming the fastest price declines ever seen in the electronics industry. So far there is no indication that the second generation DVD market is taking off either.
