Porn
hunters are being whalloped by a new scam.

Researchers at security vendor McAfee say that anyone who is brave enough to download anything from such sites could find themselves victims of a scheme to extort money from them.

After the software is downloaded, the victim gets three days' free access to the porn site, but the download includes code that then generates a stream of blinding and annoying pop-up windows both when the user is online and offline. The pop ups demand payment of roughly $80 for 90 days' worth of additional access.

The sites warn visitors they will be billed as full members, "and lose full use of their computers if they don't join" unless they cancel the subscription within the trial period. Once the fees are paid, the software can be removed with a special file.
