Apple Messiah Steve Jobs rewrote history when he claimed that the search outfit had elected to compete with Apple's iPhone by developing the Android smartphone software. The two companies had been quite close with Google members sitting on the Apple board.

Apple's Jobs recently told a conference that Google was responsible for the change in the relationship between the two companies because Google elected to compete with Apple's iPhone by developing the Android smartphone software.

However Google's Larry Page said that Jobs' assessment was "a little bit of rewriting history." He said that Google had been working on Android a very long time, with the notion of producing phones that are internet enabled and have good browsers and all that because that did not exist in the marketplace.

The idea that Google had been preparing to enter the market after Apple had made a success of it was unreasonable, Page said.
