WD 3TB My Book external drive listed

Seagate 3TB drives already shipping
Western Digital has expanded its immensely popular My Book series with a 3TB version that should appear in retail soon.

Earlier this month the company announced that it would start shipping 3TB drives by the end of the year, but it was already beaten by Seagate. Seagate’s STAC3000200 Freeagent Desktop GoFlex is already widely available in developed markets with prices starting at just €175.

According to early listings WD’s 3TB MyBook Essential (WDBACW0030HBK) should cost €249, but it features USB 3.0, which should come in handy considering the massive capacity. When it will actually ship is anyone’s guess.
