Shuttle launches Intel X38 Mini-PC-Barebone

Shuttle has launched a new XPC Barebone based on the Intel X38 chipset, with support for Intel's 45nm processors with FSB speeds of up to 1333 and ATI Crossfire support. The new XPC Barebone is branded SX38P2 Pro Prima Series.

The new SFF from comes with a highly efficient 450W PSU with 80% or greater efficiency, which allows it to support a dual graphics card setup. The entire setup is cooled by Shuttle's I.C.E. heatpipe module complemented by OASIS cooling technology, which covers motherboard VRM, Northbridge and Southbridge. It supports up to 8GB of dual channel DDR2-800 memory, which can be overclocked to 1066. It can accommodate two PCI-Express 2.0 x16 graphics cards in Crossfire mode. The Crossfire is limited to single slot cooling solution cards.

The new Barebone also features eight -hannel HD Audio with Realtek's ALC888DD. The Barebone has space for three internal hard drives and two external eSATA drives. It has two FireWire, eight USB 2.0 ports and has one mini-PCIe x1 slot with support for Intel's Robson turbo memory.

The new Shuttle XPC Barebone SX38P2 Pro is available now at a suggested price of €429 without tax.
