Disgruntled tech guy sentenced for porn prank

by on23 June 2011

Slipped a bit of porn in CEO’s PowerPoint
The former IT manager at Baltimore Substance Abuse Systems took his revenge on his boss in a rather embarrassing episode involving some bad porn, a 64-inch screen and a PowerPoint presentation.

After being axed, 51-year-old Walter Powell used his knowledge of the company’s systems to hack CEO Greg Warren’s account and insert a pinch of porn in a PowerPoint presentation. Warren was blissfully ignorant of Powell’s prank until a slide in his presentation revealed a huge image of a “naked woman”. We don’t know the exact contents of the image, but let your imagination run free – we are going with something rather sick.

Of course Powell was charged with hacking into the system, distributing confidential emails and messing with the presentation. CEO Warren later moaned that the security breach cost the company $80,000, as it had to replace some software and upgrade the system. We are guessing he did not contract Powell to do the job, but in the end he could have thanked him for revealing the vulnerabilities.

In the end Powell got away lightly, with a two-year suspended sentence, 100 hours of community service and three years probation.
