Partners with Canonical for OpenStack-powered cloud


Dell announced its new partnership with Canonical to offer an OpenStack-powered cloud with the Ubuntu operating system. 

Canonical's Martin Stadtler, the new Dell OpenStack-Powered Cloud Solution will run on the upcoming server release of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin", which will arrive on 26 April "with the latest Linux and OpenStack technologies". Users of  Dell's Infrastructure-as-a-Service solution will receive enterprise-level support for their clouds through Canonical's Ubuntu Advantage support programme, he said.

Launched in July 2010 by Rackspace and NASA, OpenStack is an open source software platform for creating highly scalable and easy-to-implement public and private clouds.
