by on04 April 2012

Will cost  $299.99

Western Digital today announced its first 2.5-inch 2 TB portable hard drive designed exclusively for Macs.

Dubbed My Passport Studio it looks like like something that Steve Jobs would have given the thumbs up too. It looks nice, small and costs $299.99. The drive is built into an all-metal chassis constructed out of anodized aluminum in a black casing enveloped with a silver aluminum trim along the outer edges.

It will  support a USB 2.0 interface and come with two FireWire 800 ports that can be daisy-chained with other FireWire-equipped peripherals, like other hard drives or HD camcorders. It comes formatted for HFS+, the native Mac OS file system, so it can be used right out of the box with Apple Time Machine.
