Beats analysts predictions handily
IBM posted an 11 percent increase in its Q1 revenue compared to the same period one year ago. That revenue was $24.5 billion for the first quarter. IBM’s Global Technology Services unit reported at 17 percent revenue growth rate to $9.7 billion, and its Global Business Services also increased 17 percent, to $4.9 billion.
IBM’s software units reported sunny numbers, as well. Software revenue was reported as increasing 14 percent to $4.8 billion for Q1, with IBM’s middleware software products (Lotus, WebSphere, Tivoli, Rational Software, Information Management) reporting double digit increases.
Big Blue was quite happy with its quarterly results and its strong start in 2008.
