Apple shuts iWork

by on06 July 2012

Didn't iWork

Jobs' Mob is planning to shut down its iWork soon as a failed service. Apple is spinnning the closure as part of its move to the iCloud. Also shut was MobileMe.

iWork.com was a public beta and will be killed off on July 31, 2012. As of that date, “you will no longer be able to access your documents on the iWork.com site or view them on the Web,” reads Apple’s note. It says that anyone with documents on iWork download them to the desktop.

Apple users who find this too demanding, along with tying their own shoelaces, can find a link to a support article titled, “How to save your documents to a computer.”

MobileMe attracted negative reviews from some prominent tech journalists. Steve Jobs apparently asked MobileMe’s development team what the hell it did, and told them they should hate each other for having let Apple down. iWork was just another document sharing site. No one really cared about it because there were better things to use outside Jobs' walled-garden of delights.
