A beast in an aluminum shell

According to the article over at hkepc.com, Asus is going to release its first "Republic of Gamers" notebook. Asus G70S ROG will be wrapped in an aluminum case and it will come with a wide set of features, just as you would expect from a notebook with the ROG badge.

According to the post, this 17-inch aluminum beast measures 425 x 320 x 60mm and weighs 4.7kg, so you won't be carrying it around much. Other features include an aluminum alloy case, the unique four-way controller, five function keys and a unique touch pad.

The notebook features Intel's Centrino Santa Rosa platform with Intel's 45nm Core 2 Duo T8300 that works at 2.4GHz and comes with 3 MB of L2 Cache. According to the post, the retail version will ship with a Core 2 Duo T9500 processor. Since this is a gamer notebook, Asus decided to use Nvidia's Geforce 8700M GT in SLI. With 512MB of GDDR3 memory per core, this adds up to 1GB of graphics memory.

Unfortunately, the price and the availability date is still unknown, but this one definitely looks good. You can check out the translated version of the original article here.
