Pentagon is iPod free

The U.S. Department of Defense has banned the use of external computer flash drives in the Pentagon because of a virus threat that officials detected on some internal networks.

Messages were sent to Department employees informing them of the new restrictions.  Pentagon officials were collecting any of the small flash drives that were bought or provided to workers by the Department.

Those who bring their flash drives, or iPods, to work will get no guarantees they will ever get the devices back, and it was not clear how long the ban will last. It appears that the action is the result of the discovery of a global virus on U.S. Defense Department networks.
