Optical mouse with 3200 DPI and six buttons

Earlier this week Kingston’s HyperX performance product division announced its first-ever gaming mouse, the Pulsefire FPS. The device was designed by top engineers in the HyperX labs and is a recipient of this year’s prestigious 2017 RED DOT award.

Four DPI presets and up to 20 million clicks

Kingston’s latest product introduction features a Pixart PMW3310 optical sensor and four DPI presets (400, 800, 1600, and 3200 DPI) for very high accuracy in FPS and MOBA games, all inside a comfortable ergonomic design with a slip-resistant grip. The Pulsefire FPS features six buttons with Omron switches that can sustain up to 20 million clicks.

The mouse measures five inches long, 2.8 inches wide and 1.7 inches tall (13 x 7.1 x 4.2cm) and features a single-color, single-intensity red LED backlight that throws off the “pulsefire” name. In an early test done by TechReport between the Pulsefire FPS and the Logitech G302, however, the mouse appears to take full advantage of the 3310’s advertised 130 ips (3.3 m/s) maximum speed, though Kingston has not bundled any software for additional tweaking.

The unit also includes two additional side buttons with rubber grips on each side, a lightweight 95-gram design with optimal weight distribution, and extra-large mouse skates for smooth movement.

Pricing and availability

Kingston is pricing the HyperX Pulsefire FPS at just $50, making its first gaming mouse a competitive alternative to the Corsair Vengeance M65, Logitech G303 Daedalus Apex, Razer DeathAdder Essential, SteelSeries Sensei and Logitech G502 Proteus, among others.

The company also announced a new mechanical keyboard, the Alloy FPS, that is now available in Cherry MX Blue, Brown and Red switches.
