Has built-in HSDPA/HSUPA modem

Yet another Eee PC 1000 model has popped up in Taiwan and although Asus has already been showing off the 1000HG, as it's called, it seems like the presumption that it would come with WiMAX was a little bit presumptuous.

However, the 1000HG does come with HSDPA and HSUPA support thanks to a built in Huawei 3G modem which supports HSDPA speeds of up to 7.2Mbit and HSUPA speeds of up to 5.76Mbit. The modem also supports EDGE and GPRS if you'd find yourself outside of a 3G coverage area.

The rest of the Eee PC 1000HG is more or less identical to the 1000H, as it has a 1.6GHz Atom N270 processor, the Intel 945GSE chipset, 1GB of DDR2 memory, a 160GB hard drive, 802.11b/g WiFi and Bluetooth. It also comes with a 6-cell battery which should keep it running for up to 6h, although this is without the usage of the 3G modem or WiFi.

The Eee PC 1000HG is retailing for NT$18,988 (€439/$564/£395) which seems quite reasonable for what's on offer, considering that this is without any network subsidies.
