New features

Skype has released a new beta version of its voice-over IP software for Linux users.

Skype has been extremely slow in bringing the latest features to Linux users. The current full version is almost medieval in comparison to what
is offered for Windows users. It was also buggy.

This beta release is the first major update for the Linux version of Skype in over nine months. It can finally manage call forwarding, allowing users to forward
incoming calls to another phone line.

Emoticons, which were dumped after they caused abnormal CPU usage are finally back.

Skype says that the new application supports for gilbc 2.3 systems and stabilises Qt 4.3.0 adoption. This means that older systems can now run
Skype.
