Gateway launches its new 17-inch FX notebook

The P-7808u FX Edition

Gateway has announced the newest addition to its P-series notebook lineup, the 17-inch P-7808u FX edition notebook. This multimedia/gaming 17-inch behemoth features Nvidia graphics, Intel's Core 2 Quad CPU and a hefty price tag of US $1,799.99.

The new P-series P-7808u FX Edition measures 400x298x33-43mm (WxDxH) and weighs in at 4.11kg without the battery. It has a 17-inch Ultrabrigh widescreen LCD screen with a maximum resolution of 1440x900, comes with synaptics touchpad with vertical scroll, brushed metal keyboard surround and illuminated multimedia keys and an FX logo on its lid.

The main specifications include a 2.0GHz Core 2 Quad Q9000 CPU, 4GB of 1066MHz DDR3 memory, 500GB 5400RPM SATA hard drive and Nvidia Geforce 9800M graphics with 1GB GDDR3 of memory.

The rest of the noted specs include a Gigabit LAN, Bluetooth, 802.11 a/g/n WiFi, 1.3MP webcam, Expresscard 54 slot, 5-in-1 card reader, 8x Multi-format DL DVD-RW with Labelflash, three USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and VGA outputs and eSATA and IEEE 1394b ports.

The P-7808u FX comes with a 9-cell battery and it ships with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit OS. According to Gateway's press release it should already be available for US $1,799.99.
