Objecting to Musk will get you fired

by on17 June 2022

Not cool after all

While there are many who think Elon Musk is cool and everything he says is worthy of attention, it turns out that he cannot handle people disagreeing with him.

The so-called “free speech advocate” has been purging SpaceX staff who dare to disagree with him for the crime of “overreaching activism.” This might indicate that if he gets his paws on Twitter it might not be the right wing free speech free for all that has been claimed and that users will not be allowed to object to anything that Elon states.

The open letter from employees described Musk’s behavior as “a frequent source of distraction and embarrassment, particularly in recent weeks.” It cites SpaceX’s “No Asshole” policy and asks the company to “publicly address and condemn Elon’s harmful Twitter behavior.”

Said the letter writers: “As our CEO and most prominent spokesperson, Elon is seen as the face of SpaceX — every Tweet that Elon sends is a de facto public statement by the company. It is critical to make clear to our teams and to our potential talent pool that his messaging does not reflect our work, our mission, or our values.”

Apparently, Musk reacted to the criticism rather badly and immediately fired the employees.

Musk’s Richie Rich persona has been hitting the headlines lately. Recently it was revealed that SpaceX paid a flight attendant $250,000 after Musk allegedly exposed himself to her and propositioned her. Musk later joked about the incident on Twitter, telling another user “if you touch my wiener, you can have a horse.”
