Meredith Vieira doesn't find it user friendly

As you could read here there is rumour going around that Euro iPhone will be announced as soon as Monday. The big deal about this fact is that it is supposed to be a 3G phone unlike the US version which is 2.5G.

The word “on the street” is that the US version is 2.5G due to the Bradcom and Qualcomm patent dispute. There are no details as yet of what kind of improvements the Euro version will have, but we hope it is not just the use of the 3G technology.

US sales are going well, people have been lining up in front of stores since Tuesday, even though the iPhone’s price starts at $499 plus the 2 year contract that starts at $59 per month. But is it really worth it? Here is a few reasons why we hope the Euro version will be improved both hardware and software wise, since we have a feeling that it will not be cheaper than the US version.

Our colleagues at endgadget.com have made a list of features that Apple's new baby has, or lacks:
  •         The OS that the iPhone uses, takes up 700MB of the device’s capacity
  •         Cut, copy, and paste do not exist.
  •         No A2DP support. Being High-tech multimedia device, and considering the fact that most mobile devices support this natively, this is just wrong.
  •         Here comes the best part, you CAN NOT use music as ring tone.
  •         It does sync with Outlook for calendars and addresses. Well done.
  •         Document file reading and not editing for PDF, Word and Excel.
  •         Adobe Flash support is out but it’s not in the browser. Nor is there any other kind of embedded video support.
  •         It has a camera that takes photos but not videos???
  •          No MMS!
  •          No voice dialling.
  •          Contact groups can’t be emailed as contact lists.
  •          According to apple after 300-400 charges the battery will lose capacity. You can send it in and get a new one for a fee.
  •         Battery is almost as good as Apple claims.
  •         Apple will be making periodic updates.
  •         Phone prompts you about nearby WiFi if you are not close to your trusted hot spot.
  •         Apparently very scratch resistant. It would be a shame to hurt that pretty body.
  •         It can take you up to 6 steps to make a phone call.

So there is definitely a few things that the iPhone lacks in order to justify its status and all the hype it has caused in the geek world. If you want to see how user friendly it actually is, take a look at this video of Meredith Vieira from The Today Show on NBC and the experience she had with her iPhone. We still hold our hopes high that the Euro version will be better.
