Prior to leaving office, former POTUS George W. Bush presented British PM Gordon Brown with a fruit themed toy, as well as some books and CDs.
It seems Brown fancies movies and music, as Barack Obama had a similar choice of presents to offer - a DVD set of classic American movies. Unfortunately, someone in Obama's staff failed to realize that the DVDs wouldn't work at Number 10 because it was in a different region.
Looking at the rest of the list, it's obvious American presidents are quite a bit more tech savvy than their counterparts from Europe, Asia and Africa. Brown got a bowl from the President of Afghanistan, presumably empty, the Ukrainian president brought along a silver jug, goblets and wine, the King of Saudi Arabia presented him with a model of a horse, while the President of the Maldives also offered up a model, of a boat.
Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi gave Brown a box of ties, twice, while the Japanese government though he could do with a new watch. Nicolas Sarkozy, the French President, gave Brown some nice French wine, and this is probably the best present of the lot.
All gifts valued at over £140 end up as property of Number 10, so Brown can use the iPod as long as he's in office, but we guess he could have a glass of wine now and then. Hopefully he won't download much stuff from iTunes and put the bill on expenses.
