In the numbers and parts again, Slim PS3 coming

Our sources in Taiwan this morning are confirming that Sony has been doing some shopping and getting their ducks in a row to build some consoles. From the whispers that we are hearing, the numbers indicate that they are gearing up to build at least a million consoles.

What is interesting is that the parts that are selected seem to indicate that these will be the key components that will make up the new slim PS3 version of the console. Demand as well as Sony PS3 console sales has been up a little bit to down a bit. The numbers would also support the fact that the cost savings that Sony has been able to achieve will give the company the ability to slash the price on the PlayStation 3 for the holiday as we have predicted all along.

While we don’t know when Sony plans on making an official announcement of the new console, from what we hear Sony is still trying to move inventory out and get rid of as many of the old version of the consoles as they can. Once the PS3 slim ships, it will be even harder to move the old inventory.
