Killed ex over Facebook status change

A British
man has been sentenced to life after a court found him guilty of killing his partner over a Facebook comment.

Brian Lewis, 31, was convicted of murdering mother of four Hayley Jones, 26, whom he had been romantically involved with. As their relationship spiraled downwards, Jones started frequenting social networking sites and socializing. When Lewis found out that Jones had changed her Facebook status to 'single' he attacked Jones and stabbed her to death.

Lewis argued that he did not plan to kill Jones, and that he acted in a crime of passion. The judge also concluded Lewis had been "frustrated, angry and hurt," but sentenced him to life anyway. However, he will be eligible for parole in 14 years.
